Sculptra® is growing in popularity here at the clinic. How are our clients finding the experience? One of our long-standing clients gave us her account of her experience
“I’ve been going to LLL for over 10 years now so when I heard about a collagen-stimulating treatment that would revitalise my skin, volumise hollow areas and improve my skin texture I had to try it out.
Typically I love Botox and Profhilo but in my early 60’s I’ve noticed my skin has become more crepey and loose, there’s more sagging, slight jowls and overall, I can see that my face dropping south! My jawline has also lost contour so I was pleased to hear that Sculptra® could be added to this area to improve skin thickness and help give more definition to my jawline.
I wanted to go for an option that would give me gradual results where my family and my daughters wouldn’t immediately guess. I didn’t want to be blown up with fillers and be transformed overnight. I just wanted friends to comment that I was looking fresher and to feel more confident about my slightly ageing skin. Sculptra® has been safely used in the UK since 2004 and Davina told me the product she was injecting was an improved formula that has recently been brought back to the UK. For all these reasons I decided that it sounded like a good option for me.
I was told I would need 2 treatments 4 weeks apart and only around the 2/3 month mark would I notice a change and a lift to my skin. If I loved the results, I could even go for a 3rd treatment, but I was initially told to try the two sessions and to see how my skin responded.
I popped on her couch after the team applied some numbing cream on my face. The procedure was comfortable and involved around 4 injections on either side of my face. The clear liquid product which is like water was gently spread underneath my skin using a bendy blunt tube called a cannula, which I was told keeps the procedure safe.
It took about 20 minutes to place the product under the skin in the sagging areas. My face was numb from the cream and the product also has a local anaesthetic in it, which meant I was so comfortable I found myself chatting away. I barely felt a thing!
Davina then gave my face a lovely massage to disperse the product further.
I was told to carry out this massage myself for the next 5 days, 5 times a day for 5 minutes. I thought I would forget to do it but actually, I enjoyed giving myself that gentle massage over the week as I felt it was revitalising my skin even more. There’s no downtime with the treatment and all I had after the first session was a small bruise on my jawline that cleared within 4 days.
When I left the treatment room my face was glowing and already felt plumped up with my skin feeling smoother and slightly tighter. Davina told me over the next few days the volume may reduce a little as the liquid spread into the tissue further, but to give it time as then the product starts to stimulate my skin’s own production of collagen. I was told to be patient as the magic starts to happen after my second treatment 4 weeks later.
My second treatment was as easy as the first and I noticed a difference around 10 days later with my skin feeling smoother, healthier and volume appearing in my hollowed-out areas in the mid-cheek.
I am now patiently waiting for the 2 months to go by so I can see the fuller effects. It was a great experience at Look Lovely London and I’m telling all my friends in their 50-60’s to try it out. If you’re looking for a way to gradually lift your skin and give it more glow, I highly recommend you try this. So far, the results have been worth the wait and I’m going to continue to see improvements!
I have to admit that as someone who loves the general maintenance of Botox (and maybe a touch of filler here and there) I wasn’t sold on the idea of Profhilo. I love the instant results a treatment can provide, so the thought of waiting some 6 weeks for the final results to take effect… Well, I’d rather just get some filler!
Sadly, filler doesn’t fix everything.
It wasn’t until I had a conversation with our Aesthetic Practitioner Melissa, that I became aware that the lower part of my face was starting to get ‘crepey’ – that so-called nice word practitioners use to describe skin that lacks firmness, and is wrinkled in texture. Literally like crepe paper… I mean honestly, it’s a tough pill to swallow!
I use high end skincare at home and cover my skin in layers of makeup every day, so I wasn’t really looking at my skin too closely. I guess the general perception as you get older is to focus more on Botox and filler – and not so much on the actual rejuvenation of your skin. Enter Profhilo – A product that promises to improve skin texture – as long as you’re willing to wait. But does it actually work and does it take that long?
Let’s keep this very real. Modifying my skin texture wasn’t really on my treatment to-do list and it wasn’t until my 4th week in clinic that I noticed Profhilo had developed a bit of a cult following. Traditionally used on the face, it’s becoming increasingly popular as a treatment for the neck and even hands. A couple of patients (you know who you are!) reported back on almost ‘instant’ results and were booking in for other areas of their bodies to be treated. One patient in particular looked more refreshed less than 48 hours after her treatment! It made me curious.
If you’ve had an appointment with Dr Davina, you’ll know that she isn’t one to agree to a treatment just because you want it – there needs to be a reason and a good one at that. In fact, the whole culture at Look Lovely London is built on this principle. So when Davina herself said she was willing to take me on my journey into rejuvenation, I knew it was something I wanted to try (I suspect my ‘crepey’ situation might’ve been the topic of discussion on the group chat! 😆)
I won’t bore you with the technicalities of how this particular magic is performed. I just want to share the results.
Is my skin firmer? Yes
Is it a better texture than before? Yes
Does my skin glow? Yes
Have I knocked 5 years off the age of my skin? Without a doubt
Do I still want my routine Botox and filler? Of course! 😊
More importantly my skin feels…plumper! I’ve been tutted at for using this word in clinic, but there’s no better word to describe it! It’s 100% more plump and cushiony. Not exactly a technical description but that’s the reality. My make up goes on better and I feel like I have a more youthful appearance. Want to see the process? Check it out here
The bottom line?
For me, this treatment works – and I’m saying this through gritted teeth. I really didn’t want to buy into the clinic hype – but it’s it not hype, it’s the real deal. Would I have it again? Without a shadow of a doubt.

If you want a gentle treatment to smooth out fine lines, lift and revitalise loose sagging skin while restoring facial volume we have an exciting new treatment for you! We’re launching a new and improved non-invasive collagen stimulating injectable treatment that will contour the face helping you looked years younger, in a natural and subtle way. It’s called Sculptra.
Why Sculptra? If you want to avoid dermal fillers and are looking for a more natural alternative, Sculptra will help you look amazing without anyone guessing you’ve had a treatment. It lifts, plumps, and rejuvenates your skin by stimulating your facial tissues to produce collagen giving you natural and long-lasting results.
How does it work? The procedure involves tiny injections into the soft tissue of the face that are almost painless with the addition of a local anaesthetic. Sculptra is a solution containing poly-L-Lactic acid which is found naturally in the body and produced by muscles. The product has been safely used in the aesthetic world for over 50 years with no risk of allergies.
It’s a low maintenance treatment – where we recommended 2 treatments 4 weeks apart. Each treatment takes 30 minutes, with no downtime other than the risk of a small bruise. You’ll notice results within 4-6 weeks and your skin will feel younger and fresher. Once you’ve had your sessions, you’re good to go for 2 years – no need to worry about maintenance treatments or top-up visits!
Who is Sculptra best for? This treatment is perfect for those with fine or deeper lines on the face or who may have lost facial fat over the years with crepey skin or hollowness. The results can take a few months to gradually take effect, so the treatment is best if you want natural, subtle enhancement and are happy to wait- but trust us, the results are well worth the wait!
Sculptra works in conjunction with your other treatments like botulinum toxin, microneedling and Profhilo and in fact, because it improves skin quality it will actually enhance the results of these other treatments.
Booking your treatment We are taking bookings for Sculptra from 28thJune and have a waiting list. If you’d like more information about this treatment, or to make an advance booking please get in touch.
In the very early days of cosmetic treatments, those who wished to reverse the signs of ageing, or replenish lost elasticity within the skin, may have felt that the only way to achieve obvious results was to opt for a surgical procedure.
Now, however, the tables have turned, and there are many innovative non-surgical options that offer an alternative to long and potentially painful recoveries, unnecessary anaesthesia, hospital stays, and the high costs of surgery.
The best results are those that are subtle, yet palpable; they will work with your natural beauty, facial structure, and distinctive characteristics, and they will not leave you squinting into the mirror, searching for signs of improvement. You will see a change, and others will notice it without jumping to the conclusion that you have ‘had work done’.
More than ever before, patients are realising the benefits of working in ways that harmonise with the body, rather than putting it through the stress and strain of surgical procedures. For example, using gentle fillers that are made of hyaluronic acid, the main component found in human collagen, to give natural plumpness and hydrate the skin without downtime.
How Do Non-Invasive Cosmetic Treatments Work?
No two treatments work in the same way; we are able to utilise a wide array of technologies and treatments, which can be used to target particular areas of the face and body in different ways.
A number of treatments seek to enhance the body’s stores of collagen, which is naturally lost as we grow older. Some will reintroduce it into the secondary layers of skin, while others work to stimulate the body into replenishing its own stores naturally.
Here are just a few of the most successful skin tightening and revitalising treatments, anti-wrinkle treatments, and non-surgical facelift treatments of 2020 – and how they are able to compete with the world of invasive cosmetic surgery.
The HIFU Non-Surgical Facelift
HIFU, high intensity focused ultrasound, is a relatively new skin tightening technique that achieves astounding results as a non-surgical facelift for patients bothered by wrinkles, sagging, lost-elasticity, and definition around the face and neck.
Unlike a traditional, surgical facelift, HIFU does not require any cuts to be made into the skin; instead, it works by rapidly heating the layers of skin that sit beneath the surface of your face. In response, the cells begin to produce collagen and reverse the signs of ageing from within.
Initial results will be noticeable straight away, though further progress will occur in the months that follow and should last for up to eighteen months. While some patients opt for a second procedure with the HIFU device around three months after their first appointment, this is not necessary for everyone.
Any discomfort is minimal and does not require a local anaesthetic or numbing injection. Since no incisions are made, there will be no scarring or bandaging required.
HIFU Treatment Cost: £600 – £1200, depending on the area being treated.
HIFU Recovery Period: None.
Fillers are one of the most popular non-surgical face treatments for men and women of all ages, and they can be used to reintroduce fullness, smooth out fine lines, and improve definition in every area of the face. The fillers themselves are able to mimic human collagen; they can be targeted towards specific areas and produce incredibly natural-looking results that do not shift or migrate away from the treatment area.
This is a wonderful choice for anyone looking to reintroduce a touch of plumpness into areas of the face that may have begun to take on a hollow or ‘sagging’ appearance.
Dermal fillers do dissolve over time but, depending on the area being treated, they can last for up to eighteen months before requiring a top-up procedure. What’s more, the use of dermal fillers can prompt the body to begin replenishing its own collagen, which can mean that you will see lasting improvement, even as the fillers begin to dissolve.
Dermal fillers can also be used in a ‘liquid rhinoplasty’ and can smooth out the nose’s profile to create a straighter profile, and lift the tip without creating any incisions, or damaging the cartilage in the process.
While any discomfort will be minor, you can have a numbing cream applied to the area a short while before the injections are made.
Dermal Fillers Cost: Typically between £300 – £785, depending on the amount of filler needed, and what areas of the face are being treated.
Dermal Fillers Recovery Period: 1-2 weeks for minor bruising.
The benefits of hyaluronic acid are well-recognised, and almost half of the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in your body is contained within the skin tissue, just beneath the upper layer. It is responsible for hydrating the skin and maintaining a firm, youthful, healthy appearance.
Some of the most popular facial creams and serums on the market today boast hyaluronic acid as a key ingredient. Whilst these creams claim to deliver hyaluronic acid into the skin the actual amounts reaching the important lower layers are negligible.
Profhilo involves injections to target five specific areas in the cheeks and chin area, offering an excellent way to deliver the goodness into the right layers of the skin. This moisturising injection will rejuvenate tired or sunken skin, improving texture, and restoring vitality to your face. You’ll be glowing 2 weeks after the treatment.
Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo will diffuse beneath the skin. This process will occur shortly after the procedure has been completed and will enable the benefits to be felt across a wider area. There will be a slight recovery time as the small ‘lumps’ caused by this diffusion dissipate, but this will typically disappear within 24 hours.
Profhilo Cost: £500 for two spaced four weeks apart.
Profhilo Recovery Time: 3 – 24 hours.
The PDO Thread Lift
The collagen that we begin to lose as we pass our mid-twenties is necessary for maintaining firmness and structure within the face. By the age of thirty, this change and loss of collagen will begin to be apparent with sagging and the appearance of jowls. PDO thread lift offers a remarkable alternative to surgery and it can reposition structures back to the more youthful days, and boost collagen within the face.
Rather than making incisions into the skin, incredibly thin threads can be inserted just beneath the surface layer to create a fine, supportive ‘mesh’ that supports the skin’s natural elasticity. It will also encourage the skin to produce more collagen as a result, creating further support.
The threads can be placed in a number of different positions, depending on the results you would like to achieve. They dissolve after around six months, but the results remain for between one year and eighteen months.
PDO Thread Lift Cost: Typically between £350 – £850, depending on the area being treated.
PDO Thread Lift Recovery Time: A week to ten days, for bruising.
Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections
Despite the proliferation of innovative new facial treatments, many people are left wondering whether liposuction is the only effective treatment available to shift small ‘pockets’ of fat.
Aqualyx is a gentle, non-invasive alternative to liposuction, so avoids anaesthesia and a prolonged – and potentially painful – recovery time. These injections can be performed at the clinic within 20 minutes and may be used to dissolve pockets of fat in the thighs, abdomen, arms, and the chin area.
The primary ingredient in Aqualyx, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring substance capable of dissolving fat membranes and prompting those stubborn areas to break down gradually. While it may require more treatments than a single liposuction procedure, typically up to 3 sessions it will also lead to tighter, firmer results than liposuction is able to offer.
Aqualyx Cost: For the chin, £350 for the initial session. For areas of the body, £450 for the initial session. Subsequent sessions are discounted.
Aqualyx Recovery Time: One week without strenuous activity as bruising/swelling eases, and three more weeks for a complete recovery.
Injections involving the botulinum toxin are incredibly popular. They can be used to target many areas within the face and neck known to suffer the most from the visible signs of ageing. It works by blocking the signals to the muscles in the face to contract, therefore reducing the ‘tug’ on the skin. Your face will feel smoother and tighter with less fine lines appearing.
Results can last for up to six months and take one to two weeks to become apparent. You won’t wake up and have a completely smooth face, the results gradually develop over 14 days giving more natural changes. Some of the most bothersome areas, such as the delicate wrinkles around the eyes and strong lines in-between the eyebrows as well as ageing muscles in the neck (platysmal bands) can be targeted in order to effectively ‘reverse’ the signs of ageing.
The procedure itself does not require any downtime, and you can return to work immediately after, although slight bruising may occur at the site of the injection.
Anti-Wrinkle Injections Cost: Between £175- 380 depending on the area being treated.
Anti-Wrinkle Injections Recovery Time: Minimal to no recovery time needed. The results are seen at 2 weeks.

Botox® is an approved treatment which temporarily reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Botox® is a world renowned brand and has been extensively studied and approved to ensure it is safe and efficient for use as an anti-wrinkle treatment.
Wrinkles appear as a result of repeated muscle movement over time. Our natural expressions which include frowning, smiling and squinting all have an effect on our appearance over the years.
Botox® works by reducing this muscle activity, allowing the muscle to relax and appear smoother.

Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process and become more prominent as we get older, but the good news is we no longer have to put up with them!
There are various factors which cause creases and lines to appear on the skin and the older we get the thinner, drier and less elastic our skin becomes.
The natural repetition of facial expressions, along with sun exposure, diet and environmental factors such as smoking and drinking alcohol can all have an effect on the condition and appearance of our skin, which in turn can effect on our self-confidence.
Anti-wrinkle injections, more commonly known as Botox®, are an approved treatment designed to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, so you can look younger and get your confidence back!
Why use anti-wrinkle injections?
Botox® can be used for a number of cosmetic procedures, from reducing the appearance of frown lines and crow’s feet to preventing excessive sweating under the arms. With minimal side effects and competitive prices on the market, anti-wrinkle injections offer both a safe and affordable option for reducing the signs of ageing.
How to reduce wrinkles around eyes
Fine lines around the eyes, also known as crow’s feet, are a common issue for many and one of the most noticeable signs of ageing. When we smile fine lines appear around the eyes which pull on the eye area, making us look older and our eyes smaller.
Botox® can help remove wrinkles around the eye area by relaxing and softening these lines so that your crow’s feet become a thing of the past.
How to reduce wrinkles and lines on the forehead
Botox® targets lines on the forehead quickly and easily. The treatment works by reducing muscle movement across the forehead, allowing the skin to relax and recover from repeated facial expressions. Skin appears fresh and smooth, leaving you with a youthful appearance.
What is the cost of anti-wrinkle injections?
At Look lovely London we offer competitive prices, making treatments an affordable option for our clients. Anti-wrinkle treatment for one area can cost as little as £140. The cost of treatment can depend on the area you would like treated and whether you would like one or more area to be attended to.
How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
The full effect from anti-wrinkle injections will be visible after 10 days, with most people returning for further treatment from 4 months onwards.
Are there any side effects with using anti-wrinkle injections?
Some patients experience minor discomfort when Botox® is injected into the skin, however the procedure is very quick and any discomfort is over within minutes. Some bruising may occur, however this normally disappears within 3 days and can be covered easily with concealer.
Getting older is something none of us relish the idea of and we all want to feel confident in our appearance, no matter what age we are.
Ageing can be a difficult concept to accept. For many years we have taken our youthful skin for granted and it’s only when we start to age that we realize what a blessing youth is.
Many of us will spend a fortune in our lifetime trying out various new lotions and potions. Some of us will opt for surgery to turn back the aging clock. But one of the most commonly used procedures nowadays, is Botox® and dermal fillers, also known as anti wrinkle injections.
Let’s take a look at the latter and how wrinkle filler injections can take years off a person’s age.
How do anti ageing facial injections work?
As you get older, the natural collagen breaks down in your skin and causes it to sag. This can create fine lines on your face, particularly around the nose and mouth area. Dermal filler injections target fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing out your skin and creating a youthful glow.
Dermal filler itself is made from a specialist sugar gel, also known as hyaluronic acid, which is also found in natural human collagen. The filler is biodegradable and the results are temporary. Although 96% of our patients return for further treatment, if you’re new to injectable wrinkle fillers, you can try the procedure for yourself and then if you decide not to return for further treatment, then your body will break it down over time.
Here at Look Lovely London, we use Emervel and Restylane, both of which are designed to give you the most natural looking result.
What’s involved in the procedure?
Once you’ve had your initial consultation with one of our specialist doctors, you will undergo a series of a few small injections. Some patients experience minor discomfort when the needles are inserted but if you’re particularly sensitive to pain, we will provide you with a numbing cream which can be applied to the treated area before the injections are administered.
The results are almost instant but the filler will settle over the following ten days or so which is when you’ll see the results in full effect. Results last from six to twelve months, depending on which area has been treated.
How much do wrinkle filler injections cost?
If you’re looking for injectable wrinkle fillers, London is home to many clinics to choose from and prices will vary from clinic to clinic. We always advise our patients to do their research so they feel totally sure that they are in the best hands and are not being overcharged.
We operate a fair and honest pricing system for our patients, so if you’re interested in finding out more about that, just speak to a member of our team.
Our pricing strategy is based on how much filler is used to treat the area. For one syringe of filler, prices start at £280 and for two syringes, prices start at £460, but this is all based on individual requirements.
We don’t believe in giving our patients more treatment than they need and our priority is that our patients leave our clinic looking completely natural, so we’ll always review your treatment plan before giving you an exact quote.
Are there any side effects associated with dermal filler?
Most patients do not experience any side effects from dermal fillers, with the exception of redness and swelling around the treated area but this will usually disappear within about ten minutes of treatment.
Occasionally a patient may experience some minor bruising to the treated area but this can be easily covered with concealer and doesn’t last longer than a few days.
If you’re new to dermal fillers and you’d like a bit more information, book a free, no-obligation consultation with one of our skilled team. They can establish a treatment plan with you, assess which areas to treat and explain a bit more about what to expect from the procedure and the results.

We all want to look and feel our best. Whether it’s embarking on a new, healthy diet, a fitness regime or investing in a whole new wardrobe, we all want to feel confident in the way that we look. But what happens when age starts to show on our faces and bodies?
Ageing is something we all have to face at some point. Whether it’s lines around the eyes, forehead or the mouth, there comes a time when our age shows on the place we least want it to appear – our face.
One of the first signs of ageing on a person’s face is around the forehead area. Over time, lines start to appear across the forehead which can age a person’s appearance and make them feel self-conscious.
Although ageing is something none of us relish, the great news is that help is at hand. Anti-wrinkle injections, or Botox® as it’s commonly known, was once only used by the rich and famous.
For years and years, male and female celebrities, actors, musicians and public figures have used Botox® to help to reduce the signs of aging.
Nowadays, anyone can undergo Botox® treatment and it’s a fairly commonplace procedure for many men and women who want to minimise the lines on their foreheads, and other areas on the face.
How does Botox® for the forehead help?
Over time, your skin can lose its elasticity, causing it to sag and lose its firmness. This can be due to many reasons: smoking, drinking alcohol and sun exposure being the main triggers, but even with the healthiest diet and using sunscreen religiously, natural aging will cause lines to appear across the forehead.
Botox® injections target lines on the forehead quickly and easily, reducing muscle movement across the forehead which then allows the skin to relax and recover from continual movement. Forehead lines then disappear, leaving you with a youthful, fresh and smooth appearance.
Is Botox® for the forehead safe?
Undergoing Botox® on the forehead is perfectly safe and has been used for decades and decades, often in much larger doses for neurological conditions to help to minimise over activity.
There have been no reported adverse affects of Botox® treatment and the product naturally breaks down over time and clears itself out of your muscles within three to six months of treatment.
If you’re unsure if Botox® is right for you, we also offer a ‘Baby Botox®’ package which involves a very small dose of treatment, followed by a two-week follow-up appointment where you can discuss the results with our expert team and undergo a further small dose if required.
Once they have undergone their first Botox® treatment, many of our patients return for further treatment about four months later, which is usually when gradual muscle movement starts to return to the treated area.
How should you choose a Botox® clinic?
If you’re looking to undergo Botox® on the forehead, London is home to many clinics. It can be difficult to know where to go and who to trust. Here at Look Lovely London, we always recommend that you do your research.
We also recommend that you avoid choosing a clinic that offers exceptionally cheap treatment or excessively expensive treatment. Our pricing system is clear and transparent and we are also accredited ‘Save Face’ practitioners, so you can be sure you’re in good hands.
How much does Botox® for the forehead cost?
Undergoing Botox® for the forehead involves a series of just four small injections to the forehead area. Our policy at Look Lovely London is to charge per treated area for Botox®. For one area it costs just £140 which is incredibly affordable and cost effective.
If you’re intrigued by Botox® for the forehead, before and after pictures on our website speak for themselves. Men and women of all ages have had their forehead lines treated with Botox® and have noticed a real difference, making them feel more self-confident about their appearance.
