Vitamin C & Sun Awareness

The sun is shining and so are you! As everyone gets ready to make the most of each and every time the sun shows itself this summer, we’re thinking about skin preparation and protection for the season ahead. Vitamin C provides a variety of skincare benefits, but did you know that it also helps to protect your skin from UV damage and can boost the effectiveness of your SPF? We outline below why Vitamin C is our must have accessory this sunny season.

What does Vitamin C do?

Often hailed as one of the best ingredients on the market, Vitamin C is the key to maintaining a healthy glowing complexion. With antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties, it reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and discolouration. If dull or lacklustre skin is your concern, Vitamin C is the solution. It works to brighten thanks to its ability to inhibit melanin production which gives our skin pigment, meaning that through daily use you will start to notice a brighter, lighter complexion along with fading of existing dark spots.

Vitamin C + Sunscreen = Double Protection

Whether you’re jetting-off on a summer holiday or simply setting up your deck chair in the back garden, SPF should always be your first choice of companion. But why should you combine SPF and Vitamin C?

Oxidative stress occurs when the skin is exposed to pollutants and environmental aggressors, such as UV rays. This stress can cause lines and wrinkles to form, as electrons attack healthy cells and change their structure. When you layer them together, your Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant to combat oxidative stress and give your skin extra UV protection benefits alongside your normal SPF. In return, sun cream helps to prevent your Vitamin C from oxidising, making it more effective. Ultimately, combining the two will combat sun damage, protect the skins condition and slow the ageing process.

So how do you incorporate Vitamin C into your skincare routine?

Vitamin C is suitable for daily use and should be applied in the morning after washing your face. A little goes a long way so you only need a few drops. Once you have rubbed in your Vitamin C you can then apply your moisturiser. Follow this up with your sun cream and you’re good to go!

The popularity of Vitamin C is both a blessing and a curse as it makes it hard to know which products work and which don’t. We have several different Vitamin C serums and creams depending on your skin type, so just ask your practitioner which one will deliver the best results for you.

And what Sunscreen should you use?

When deciding on a sun cream, it’s important to opt for a broad-spectrum formula as this will provide defence against both UVB and UVA rays. It should also be at least SPF 30, however if you have fair skin or know you will be spending a significant amount of time in the sun we would always recommend SPF 50.

We have a wide range of sun protection products available at the clinic and what our practitioners recommend varies depending on your skin and your goals. Our selection of sunscreens come in multiple formulations to suit all skin types and lifestyles, so just ask your practitioner what they would suggest for your skin during your appointment.

Exosomes – Your guide to the in demand skin treatment!

Exosome Treatments at Look Lovely London

The latest in demand clinic treatment is Exosomes. Exosome treatments are a 2 step skin treatment involving microneedling, followed by the application of exosomes. It’s a quick fix for dull skin, and anyone looking to reduce post treatment redness or inflammation.

What are Exosomes?

Exosomes are nanoparticles released by nearly all cells in the human body. They carry important components like proteins, DNA and RNA and serve as communicators between cells to help them absorb minerals, vitamins, and growth factors. Exosomes are messengers that send signals to unhealthy cells, prompting them to regenerate and begin the body’s natural healing process.

What does an Exosome treatment involve?

Exosomes need to be able to penetrate the superficial layer of skin, so that they can absorb in and communicate with cells – otherwise they would just sit on the surface and not be effective. Because of this, an exosome treatment involves a session of microneedling, followed by the application of topical exosomes. Think of exosomes as the finishing touch that enhances the treatment you have just had, reducing inflammation and continuing to enhance results afterwards.

How do Exosomes help our skin?

As we get older, our skin cells start to produce fewer exosomes which can consequently slow down cell turnover and lead to fine lines, wrinkles and reduced elasticity. An exosome treatment works to wake up inactive skin cells and older exosomes, so they can get back to work on repairing and revitalising the skin. Exosomes stimulate collagen and elastin production, vital proteins for skin elasticity and firmness.

Who is the treatment for?

Because the benefits of exosomes are so wide reaching, the treatment is suitable for anyone who is looking to improve the overall health of their skin. When used for facial rejuvenation, exosomes can address various skin concerns like acne scaring, inflammation, sagging, pigmentation, ageing and more!

When combined with Microneedling or Morpheus8, exosomes will improve wound healing, whilst also optimising treatment results such as firming skin, smoothing lines & wrinkles, calming redness and reducing inflammation.

Are Exosomes natural?

Yes! The exosomes we use are plant based and of natural origin. At Look Lovely London, we have chosen to use advanced synthetic exosomes combined with plant stem cells. This unique formula means an increase in the proteins of the extracellular matrix, increasing cell turnover and refining the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

How often should I have an Exosome treatment?

Your practitioner will always assess and advise you how many treatments they would suggest based upon your own skin concerns.

On average, we recommend four treatments, two to four weeks apart. Typically, the effects of these treatments last 6 to 12 months. Regular treatments can provide more noticeable and long-lasting results. If you are preparing your skin for a special event, one treatment one-week prior to the day itself is a great way to even complexion and help your skin to glow.

What other treatments would you recommend alongside Exosomes?

Due to their anti-inflammatory properties, exosomes are a great add-on option for your Morpheus8 appointments. Skin will feel instantly soothed, because exosomes work to speed up recovery time and they boost the efficiency of the healing process. For more details about whether or not this would be an addition for your next treatment, simply get in touch.

At Look Lovely London, we love bringing you new treatments and we pride ourselves on harnessing the latest advancements in regenerative skincare.

Our practitioners ensure that every treatment is tailored to the unique needs of each patient. To book in for a complimentary consultation and explore how exosomes can help your skin, simply give us a call on 020 3900 2756 or book online.

It’s Time To Get Summer Skin Ready

Summer is on our minds here at Look Lovely London, every time we see the sun starting to peek through our clinic windows! We can’t wait to pack up our winter woollies and make way for our summer dresses, but what about our skin? In much the same way that we change our wardrobe for the sun, it’s also the time of year when we need to be thinking about revamping our skin regime too.

After a long winter, your skin may need some extra attention to look and feel its best during the sunny season which is exactly what we’re here for! In this guide, we share our top treatments for prepping, protecting and prolonging your summertime glow.

Give your skin a boost(er)

Nourished, hydrated, refreshed, rejuvenated. The results of a skin booster perfectly describe how we want our skin to feel throughout the sunnier months. Summer weather can strip the skin of moisture and lead to dehydration. A skin booster will give you a burst of hydration from the inside out, quickly combatting the effects of sun exposure and heat all whilst acting to calm and refresh the skin.

One of the best things about a skin booster is the long-term effects. Boosters promote the production of collagen and elastin for several months, working to improve texture, tone and elasticity throughout summer and beyond.

We have a wide variety of boosters all trusted by our practitioners, to target whatever your concerns may be, so why not book in for a complimentary consultation and find your skin’s new saviour this season.

Refresh with a Hydrafacial

A popular preparation step for any season and for good reason! But if we are being summer specific, many steps within a Hydrafacial treatment are important for keeping your skin healthy this season.

Hydrafacial works to clear away dead skin cells, dirt and impurities caused by increased sweat and oil production through its deep exfoliation, extraction and cleansing stages. The natural ingredients used within the treatment will infuse the skin with moisturising serums that nourish, plump and combat the drying effects of sun and wind exposure. A Hydrafacial works to enhance the overall texture and tone of the skin, leaving it looking brighter and smoother.

Nothing leaves you feeling fresher than a six-step facial so give your skin a little TLC and keep it looking its best throughout your socialising this season by visiting us for a Hydrafacial.

Why not try the Hydrabody too?

Everyone talks about the wonders the Hydrafacial works for your face, but did you know the Hydrabody incorporates all that goodness into a body treatment too?

Hydrabody involves a full-body exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, followed by a moisturising mask or body serum application to deeply hydrate the skin. Designed to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and refreshed, it is the perfect pre-summer treat to prepare your skin for the warmer weather and sun exposure.

We treat a variety of different areas including back, arms, thigh, booty and hands, so whatever area you’re thinking could use a little extra attention before summer, we’re here to help make sure your skin is ready for the sunny days ahead.

EMShape your Summer body

We all want to feel confident and comfortable heading into whatever the sunnier months have in store for us. Summer attire, social gatherings and vacations all play a part in many of us making it our goal to lose weight and tone up before the season starts.

The EMShape Neo is designed to provide a non-invasive solution for those looking to build muscle, reduce fat and improve overall body shape and tone. The device works by inducing powerful muscle contractions to increase muscle whilst also heating and destroying fat cells through radiofrequency.

Stomach, arms, legs or buttocks – the EMShape Neo is the ultimate body contouring trick to help you feel more comfortable in your own skin this summer. All of our practitioners are fully qualified to perform the treatment and with minimal preparation and no downtime required you can get started on your journey right away.

Everyday skin protection

SPF. We all knew this would be on this list.

The crucial component of any skincare routine, SPF protects and prevents the damaging effects of the sun. By incorporating SPF into your daily routine you can help safeguard your skin and maintain its health for years to come.

We recommend you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen and apply it generously before sun exposure as well as reapplying every two hours. If you visit Look Lovely London, it’s clear from our shelves that we love Obagi, Heliocare  and ZO best! We have a range of sunscreens available for purchase including oil free and tinted products so feel free to ask you practitioner what one they think would suit your skin texture best during your appointment.

Enjoy your Summer!

We’re here to help you look and feel confident as you embark on your best summer yet. Take the first step towards a skin safe sun-kissed season by giving us a call on 020 3900 2756 or booking online.

Non-Surgical Facelifts

It’s a common misconception that we need to take an ‘all or nothing’ approach to ageing. While facelifts certainly have their place in the world of cosmetic procedures, there are many more alternative treatments that stand between doing nothing at all and going ‘under the knife’.

Non-surgical facelifts are just as they sound: aesthetic treatments that offer tangible results without requiring you to see a plastic surgeon, undergo anaesthesia, and deal with weeks of post-operative healing.

These treatments promise fast yet long-lasting and natural-looking results that specifically target some of the most common signs of ageing, including loose and sagging skin, loss of contour and volume, a more textured appearance, and lost collagen.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Facelifts: Why Choose a Non-Surgical Alternative?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking surgery. In some instances, it does represent the best choice for the patient, offering more drastic results that may be beyond the scope of a non-surgical treatment.

But, for so many patients, a surgical procedure represents an unnecessary extreme – one that risks unnatural results, although this does depend on the skill and experience of the plastic surgeon.

Avoiding surgery in favour of a non-surgical facelift brings benefits like

  • Avoiding anaesthesia and the risks associated with all surgical procedures
  • Shorter treatment times – many of our patients visit us on their lunch breaks, or during a day out in the city.
  • Reduced risk of infection thanks to less invasive methods
  • Shorter healing times
  • Lower cost
  • Natural results
  • No scarring
  • Versatility – since these treatments yield semi-permanent or temporary results, they are far better suited to patients who would rather take a more measured approach to aesthetic enhancements
  • Treatment options that work with your body – for instance, by boosting collagen production – rather than against it

Why Are There So Many Non-Surgical Facelifts Options?

In short, because there are so many different patients out there!

Anti-ageing and facial rejuvenation represent a very exciting discipline. Each year, experts from around the world pioneer new treatments that really target specific areas of concern, yielding stronger outcomes while minimising invasiveness and recovery. This is fantastic for ensuring there is always a range of treatment options, rather than attempting to achieve natural results with a ‘one size fits all’ set of treatments.

Of course, this can mean that it’s a little daunting trying to work out which treatment – or combination of treatments – is right for you.

At Look Lovely London, our passion lies in creating the best possible treatment plan for every patient – one that is tailored to their goals and expectations, their concerns, and their long-term plans. We are always happy to set up a consultation and talk through the list of options until you’re happy.

That said, it always helps to do a little research ahead of time. Below, you can find out more about some of our most popular non-surgical facelift treatments.

The Morpheus 8

What it Targets: Any part of the body that is suffering from reduced collagen production, which leads to a loss of plumpness and a looser, less elastic appearance. The face, tummy, thighs, and buttocks represent the most common treatment areas. Click here to find out more about Morpheus 8.

How it works: This is what’s known as a ‘fractional skin treatment’, which uses radiofrequency microneedling to target specific areas of concern. It’s less invasive than a laser treatment.

The Results: Improved skin texture and reduced wrinkles. This treatment is great for targeting crow’s feet and jowls, but also wider-spread concerns like cellulite and stretchmarks on larger areas of the body.

Treatment Timeline:

  • The treatment takes a little over an hour, as we will need to numb the treatment area. You can expect to be in and out in less than 90 minutes.
  • Post-treatment, you should avoid putting any products on or around the treatment area for 48 hours. After that, you can go back to normal.
  • We generally recommend 3 courses of treatment, with results lasting between 1 and 3 years depending on the scope of the treatment plan, where we’re starting from, and your age.

Dermal Fillers

What it Targets: Parts of the face that are beginning to appear hollow, inelastic, or wrinkled – particularly around the eyes and mouth. This is due to a loss of our body’s natural collagen stores. Tear troughs, lost definition along the jawline, structural defects along the bridge of the nose, and deeper nasolabial folds (smile lines) are just some of the areas dermal fillers can treat.

Our full guide to dermal fillers is available here.

How it Works: Dermal filler, when injected into targeted areas, leads to a fresh build-up of moisture that re-pumps the skin, leading to a more youthful look.

The Results: You’ll see a change in your appearance straightaway – better skin texture, re-plumped cheeks and tear troughs, and better contouring depending on where the filler has been injected.

Treatment Timeline:

  • The treatment takes about 40 minutes, which is why so many of our patients pop in during their lunch breaks.
  • You might see some bruising in the days that follow your treatment, but these will fade within a week to 10 days.
  • We recommend you return for additional treatment within a year to 18 months in order to maintain the best possible results.

HarmonyCa

What it Treats: Wrinkles, fine lines, lost volume, and skin inelasticity in the face.

How it Works: By combining filler with calcium hydroxyapatite, the HarmonyCa treatment offers the best of both worlds: a firmer, plumper appearance and reduced wrinkles, along with increased collagen production.

We’ve got a full guide to HarmonyCa if you’re interested to learn more.

The Results: A longer-lasting and very natural-looking rejuvenation of the face and jowls. HarmonyCa replaces lost volume by supporting your skin’s in-built ability to stay plump and firm.

Treatment Timeline:

  • Treatment is very quick and can take as little as 30 minutes.
  • You may feel a little tender in the treatment areas a few hours after leaving the clinic, but there’s no downtime, and any pain should subside within 24-48 hours.
  • Results will last around 18 months, with gradual improvement over the first 3 months.

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound)

What it Targets: Parts of the face, chin, and neckline that have lost definition and require re-sculpting in order to bring out your natural beauty. If you feel as though your bone structure is starting to disappear beneath sagging skin and pockets of fat, this is a great treatment option to consider.

Find out more about HIFU treatments.

How it Works: These ultrasounds encourage the skin to do its own job, just more effectively! It targets three subdermal layers of skin to produce more collagen without introducing any fillers or synthetic collagen into the body. This is what leads to such natural-looking results.

The Results: It’s you, just revitalised. If you’ve noticed a difference in your appearance over the last few years, then the main culprit is your body’s reduced collagen production. By giving that process a boost, you’ll start to see (and feel) yourself again.

Treatment Timeline

  • HIFU takes less than an hour – around 45 minutes for most patients.
  • Recovery is minimal, with no downtime.
  • Results will last up to 18 months, with gradual improvement over those first 3 or 4 months post-treatment.

No Needle Facelift

What it Targets: Reduced collagen production and loose skin, along with redness, blemishes, and puffiness. This treatment approaches the signs of ageing and stress from multiple angles at once.

Read our guide to no needle facelifts.

How it Works: The no needle facelift combines four separate treatments: HIFU, Forma (more on that below), LED Light Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage. HIFU and Forma target lost collagen production, while LED Light Therapy works wonders for the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes, redness, and acne, and draining the lymphatic system targets that puffy, tired appearance that lingers even after a good night’s rest.

The Results: This treatment targets the full list of concerns, from the concrete signs of ageing like wrinkles and sagging, to the more superficial (yet stubborn) signs like poor skin texture and puffiness.

Treatment Timeline:

  • The treatment itself only requires an hour of your time.
  • There is no downtime, and many patients choose to get the treatment within a day or two of a big event thanks to the instant results it offers.
  • Results last somewhere between 6 – 9 months before further treatments are required.

Forma

What it Targets: Any part of the body that stands to benefit from lifting and contouring, from the face to the arms, and parts of the body that exercise alone just can’t target. It’s also effective for concerns like hyperpigmentation and textured skin.

Click herefor more information on Forma.

How it Works: With radio frequencies, we can target those subdermal layers – not just to stimulate natural collagen production, but also to cause a contraction of the underlying tissue.

The Results: Consistent, even results in the treatment area. Skin appears firmer and tighter, more evenly toned and textured – and, in the face, that tired, lethargic appearance that can be so hard to shift, even with a good diet and exercise plan, is replaced by a more youthful glow.

Treatment Timeline:

  • The treatment itself takes as little as 30 minutes, although initial appointments will take slightly longer as we walk you through your personal treatment plan.
  • There is no downtime following this treatment – you may notice some redness or swelling for 24-48 hours post-treatment, but many patients experience no after-effects at all.
  • Results can last for 1-2 years following a course of treatment.

Sculptra

What it Targets: Facial skin that has lost – or is beginning to lose – its structural integrity. Fine lines, lost volume, loose skin and jowling, provided it’s not too advanced.

Take a look at our Sculptra guide.

How it Works: By injecting Poly-L-Lactic Acid into the skin. While it may sound very scientific, this polymer is produced naturally by the body but, as our metabolic processes slow with age, our skin starts to show signs of slowed production. An injection of PLLA heals those subdermal layers and boosts collagen production as a result.

The Results: Subtle and natural, but significant enough for you to notice a real difference in the mirror. This treatment is all about bringing out your natural beauty instead of working against it with extreme measures. For that reason alone, it’s a great option if you’re new to the world of facial rejuvenation.

Treatment Timeline:

  • The treatment itself takes around 45 minutes.
  • Recovery can take up to 10 days in some cases, but this will only present as mild bruising.
  • Results can last more than two years, with 86% of patients reporting continued effects after 25 months. For beginners, we’d recommend 2 or 3 rounds of treatment in those first few months just to create a strong foundation for longer-lasting results.

Non-Surgical Facelift FAQs

What is the most popular alternative to facelift surgery?

Dermal fillers are seeing a huge surge in popularity all over the world. In 2019, around 4.3 million treatments involved dermal fillers, which equates to just over 30% of all non-surgical treatments.

How Old Do I Have to Be to Get Anti-Ageing Treatments?

There’s absolutely no age requirement for adults seeking treatment – and, for some treatments, starting sooner rather than later can be a big benefit when it comes to laying the right foundations for future treatments. The signs of ageing begin to take hold (albeit subtly) when we hit our mid-twenties, and more patients are seeking to start addressing their areas of concern earlier than you might think.

What are the risks?

Non invasive face lift treatments pose very few risks compared with surgical alternatives. While we will make sure you are aware of any risks specific to your treatment plan, cosmetic treatments carry a low risk of infection in the injection site. This risk is minimised when the clinic follows high standards for health and safety and ensures proper training in all techniques – something we take very seriously here at Look Lovely London.

How Much is a Non Surgical Facelift?

You can see our full price list here, although it’s important to keep in mind that all prices depend on the scope of your treatment plan, and your desired results. For any specific requests about pricing and personalised treatment plan, feel free to get in touch with the team on 020 3900 2756 or email us.

January Essentials

The parties, the lack of sleep, the hectic routine, the empty celebrations box… Our skin always likes to remind us that we forgot to take care of it during the blurry festive period where no one quite knew what day of the week it was.

Luckily, we have some treatment recommendations on hand to help rescue your skin, rejuvenate your complexion and get you glowing in January.

In our opinion it’s never too late to invest in a few extra gifts From You To You

HYDRAFACIAL

Let’s get the basics out of the way first – your base!

January is the time for fresh starts and nothing leaves you feeling fresher than a six-step facial designed to make you glow.

The Hydrafacial works to clear away dead cells through deep exfoliation, extraction and cleansing. The treatment has many relaxing components to it too such as a gentle lymphatic drainage and light therapy along with natural ingredients to tackle pigmentation, acne and rosacea. Our practitioners will always tailor your facial to your specific concerns.

Suitable for all skin types, a Hydrafacial should be top of your New Years treatment to do list!

PROFHILO

Known for its refreshing and rejuvenating powers, Profhilo is the perfect option if you are looking for an easy way to nourish your skin with results that will last well into the new year.

The treatment deeply hydrates, infusing 100% Hyaluronic acid into your skin which works to smooth out fine lines, improve texture and give you a dewy air-brushed look. One of the best things about Profhilo is its long-term effects – as the product stimulates collagen and elastin production for several months it is great for continuing to improve your natural face contour over time.

So if your resolution is to find a treatment that will give your skin the ingredients that it needs to take better care of itself, Profhilo could be your new go to.

MICRONEEDLING

Although summer may seem like a distant dream, it is useful to know what treatments are better done in the winter months vs when the sun is shining.

Microneedling uses tiny needles to encourage the skin to initiate its own healing process which in turn leads to the reduction of fine lines, acne, rosacea, pigmentation, stretch marks and even scarring. As the small needle punctures heal, avoiding sun exposure is key. Luckily January weather in England is good for some things! The winter months significantly reduce your risk of sun damage, meaning that your skin can recover faster and more effectively after the treatment.

Reducing healing time means seeing results sooner, so if you have been tempted to try out Microneedling there really has never been a better time.

POLYNUCLEOTIDES & EYEBRIGHT

Tired eyes are often an unwelcome post-festive staple, but luckily they don’t have to be for long.

Targeted under-eye skin boosters improve dark circles, smooth fine lines and deeply hydrate. The new go-to in targeted boosters is Polynucleotides. Polynucleotides are tiny, purified molecules that are injected into the area to encourage your cells to produce their own collagen and elastin, resulting in more radiant skin with improved texture.

Alternatively, Eyebright is a great injectable treatment for your under-eye area, achieving similar results to Polynucleotides but this time through a combination formula of amino acids and super-hydrating Hyaluronic acid.

Not sure what skin booster is right for you? You can book in for a complimentary consultation with one of our practitioners to discuss your specific concerns.

ANTI WRINKLE

No January pick-me-up wish list would be complete without Anti-Wrinkle injections. It may seem like a predictable recommendation, but that’s because they really do work for everyone!

With both age and repetitive muscle movement, lines settle into the face and these can make you look tired and fatigued which certainly doesn’t help with that post-Christmas fatigue. Anti-wrinkle injections are a simple, non-surgical treatment to soften and smooth those wrinkles, resulting in a fresher, more youthful and relaxed looking you.

We would love to help you keep your skincare New Year’s resolutions and that’s why we have our Anti-Wrinkle membership options, offering either three or four treatments per year at a discounted price when paid in advance or monthly. The best part? You also get 10% off one other treatment of your choice each month which means that you can try out any of the above suggestions at a discounted price too!

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU?

After a busy festive season, we can’t wait to help our patients beat those January blues with a few pick-me-up treatments. If you’re ready to get your 2024 glow on the go, please call us on 020 3900 2756 or book online.

Polynucleotides

What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are tiny purified molecules injected into the skin which encourage it to maintain its youthful appearance. They are commonly referred to as biostimulators or biorevitalisers. This injectable is a cosmetic treatment quickly gaining popularity due to its ability to promote skin regeneration and encourage revitalisation naturally.

What do Polynucleotides do for your skin?

Polynucleotides help your skin to heal, repair and glow! By stimulating your cells to produce their own collagen and elastin, they will improve skin quality, firmness and elasticity. Polynucleotides are great for reducing fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes. We also recommend the treatment if you are looking for help with any acne scarring or rosacea.

Where can I have Polynucleotides?

This injectable product can be used for the face, along with the neck and decolletage areas. We also offer a specialised Polynucleotide injectable designed specifically for the delicate eye area.

Are polynucleotides natural?

Yes!  Polynucleotides are of natural origin and derived from European freshwater fish intended for human consumption, which most closely resembles human DNA.

How often should I have a Polynucleotide treatment?

For best results, we recommend that patients opt for a course of 3-4 treatments. You practitioner will always tailor your treatment plan specifically to your skin and desired outcome.

What can you expect after a polynucleotide treatment?

You can expect improved skin texture, tone and hydration. Polynucleotide’s are particularly great for acne scarring, and reducing any redness created by Rosacea.

How long do the results last?

Typically, the effects of these treatments last 6 to 12 months. Regular treatments can provide more noticeable and long-lasting results.

What other treatments would you recommend alongside Polynucleotide injectables?

Polynucleotides not only rejuvenate your skin on their own, but they also enhance other treatments as they create a brilliant foundation. Polynucleotides are best teamed with other treatments for ultimate results.

What is the cost?

A course of 3 treatments is required, and costs £895 for the package. Each treatment is one month apart. Your practitioner will advise on your recommended treatment plan during your consultation.

Ready to book? Simply give us a call on 020 3900 2756, or book your polynucleotides treatment online.

That JLo Glow

The JLo Glow everyone will be having this summer.

I was super excited to see that HydraFacial had launched a booster serum in collaboration with Jennifer Lopez, the queen of glowing skin – especially as Summer sun can be hard on the skin.

Why have a HydraFacial?

The ‘6 facials in 1′ HydraFacial helps to:

remove toxin build up with lymphatic drainage

deeply cleanse and exfoliate and tackle any congestion

– extract any blackheads or clogged pores

– remove debris and brighten skin

boost hydration

–  Stimulate collagen with LED light therapy

Why add on a booster?

The booster element is a fantastic way to tailor the treatment to your skin, and tackle any concerns  – from rosacea, acne or pigmentation.

The Jennifer Lopez booster which is based on her award winning ‘JLo glow serum’, aims to tighten, hydrate and brighten. Having just come back from a sunny holiday my skin needed a serious pick me up, so I was very excited to know Look Lovely London had the new booster in the clinic.

Is it worth the hype?

My excitement levels were pretty high as Jennifer Lopez has the most beautiful glowy and dewy skin which I have always envied! I had high hopes going into my treatment. My skin was looking very dull, congested and had no brightness to it, so the HydraFacial and booster had some serious work to do to get my skin ready for the weekend! I was delighted to hear during the treatment that the booster was being absorbed by my skin very happily (it very much needed it!)

The results

Straight after the treatment my skin was already looking so much better! My congestion looked calmer, and I finally had bright skin again. I made sure to get a good night’s sleep and drank extra water, to give my skin the extra boost it needed. To truly test the booster, I went into work the next day with zero make up on – and no one even noticed! I had the JLo glow!

Verdict- 10/10 – leaving your house without make up can be daunting but after seeing how bright and dewy my skin looked, I had full confidence in doing so!  This is the biggest compliment I can give the treatment. Thank you, Jennifer Lopez! I will definitely be including the booster in my future HydraFacial appointments!

Ready to book? Simply give us a call on 020 3900 2756, or book your next Hydrafacial online.

Not sure if this is the right treatment for you? If you would like a personalised treatment plan or advice, then please don’t hesitate to email us some clear pictures of the area you are looking to treat, and we will happily review for you.

Why live with sun spots? Remove them with Cryopen

Why live with sun spots?

In my early 30’s I was partial to a bit of sun in Ibiza and Vegas, living the dream, and rarely using cream! However, in my late 30’s I started to notice some unsightly dark brown spots around my nose and on my central cheek area. The seemed to get darker over the summer months, and one spot was the size of a 5 pence piece! Even in the winter, with cover up you could still see them popping through my makeup towards the end of the day. After trying to conceal them with no avail I went to see my GP to find out what they were and what could be done. The GP simply reassured me they were called ‘sun spots’ or ‘liver spots’ – all benign, but permanent and not removable on the NHS. Benign meant not dangerous but I didn’t like the sound of circles of dark pigmentation on my face from a misspent decade in my 30’s.

I got some creams…..

I went down the usual route of over-the-counter pigmentation creams  which did absolutely nothing to the sun damaged spots. I started to get self-conscious about these 3 pesky patches on my face, and felt like people were looking at them when chatting to me. I then investigated further and decided to go for IPL to lift the patches and hopefully clear them.

Now I won’t bash IPL treatments –  as this light pulse laser treatment did wonders for my overall complexion. The treatment cleared redness and lightened my overall pigmentation but sadly the patches remained. I then went on to do a deep peel, and again the pigmentation cleared but the spots didn’t budge.

I was then at a loss of what to do, so I booked my appointment with Look Lovely London and saw Hannah who has been treating me for a decade.

It was time for professional help

Hannah gave me a detailed consultation and then proceeded to explain the best way to finally clear the 3 patches was to use the Cryopen. She explained this freezing pen would eradicate the spots within 2 weeks and leave me with clear, new skin underneath. I wish I had known about this treatment sooner! Basically, the Cryopen can clear anything unsightly on the face and body like moles, warts or even collections of vessels.

The treatment took 5 minutes and was almost painless. Hannah told me it was pressurised liquid nitrous oxide that destroyed the top layer of the dark skin to freeze off the pigmentation. No aesthetic was needed, and I left with just a tingle on the skin that cleared within 45 mins. The team told me the spots may get darker for 2 days and then slightly scab over and clear within 10 days. I was prepared for this and simply put a little cover up on the area after a day.

Within 10 days, they had vanished! I was absolutely delighted. I kicked myself for not researching this simple treatment sooner and having to live with them spots for 3 years before getting them cleared. Hannah advised me to look after my skin in the future wearing SPF 50 cream to prevent any further pigmentation and sun damage. Now being sensible and after my IPL and cryotherapy treatments, my skin is a clear as it was in my twenties!

Forma – Radiofrequency Skin Tightening

What is Forma?

Forma is a radio frequency skin tightening treatment. It is a non-invasive procedure that uses heat and radiofrequency to increase collagen production both in the face and body resulting in lifting, tightening, and contouring your skin, almost like ironing your skin – in turn helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles – and aiding recovery from age spots and hyperpigmentation. Forma can be used on both the face and body. Commonly treated areas on the face include: forehead, crows feet, upper eyelids, lower eyelids, nasolabial folds, jowls, smile lines and neck. On the body, popular treatments consist of the arms (bat wings), abdomen and other areas that may need more refinement.

Why have Forma?

Forma is a great treatment for anyone who is looking for a non-invasive yet visibly rewarding result. It is great for anyone who has concerns of jowling, lose of skin laxity, a sunken or even a tired look in the skin. This treatment is used to achieve a tightened and more lifted result along with improving the skin’s overall appearance giving smoother skin and a more radiant glow.

How does Forma work?

Forma works using radiofrequency energy to target deep layers of the skin, with no area being under or over treated. This ensures maximum and consistent results. During the procedure the device will be placed on the targeted skin, which emits radiofrequency energy to heat up the tissue and stimulate the production of collagen. The heat also causes the underlying tissue to contract, resulting in a tighter and firmer appearance. The device is moved over the treatment area in a continuous motion, gradually heating the skin to optimal temperature. The treatment is designed to be comfortable, and patients often describe it as feeling like a warm massage. The results are typically noticeable immediately after the treatment, and continue to improve over time as the collagen production is stimulated. Multiple treatments are  recommended for optimal results, and maintenance treatments may be needed to sustain the result over time.

What areas can be treated with Forma?

Forma can be performed on various areas of the face and body, some of the most common treatment areas include:

Face: Forma can be used to tighten and lift sagging skin on the forehead, around the eyes, cheeks, jowls and jawline.

Neck: Forma can help tighten loose skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the neck and decolletage area.

Arms: Forma can be used to tighten and smooth out loose skin on the upper arms, it is a great way to tighten (bat wings) or any loose skin from ageing or weight loss.

Abdomen: Forma can help to tighten and firm the skin on the abdomen, especially after weight loss or pregnancy.

Thighs and buttocks: Forma can be used to tighten and smooth out loose skin on the thighs and buttocks – a very common area for many of us to suffer with a lose of skin laxity.

What is the downtime of Forma?

One of the huge advantages of forma is that there is little to no downtime associated with the treatment. Unlike more invasive skin-tightening procedures, such as surgery, forma is a non-invasive treatment that does not require any incisions or anaesthesia. After the treatment, some patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or a warm sensation in the treated area, but these side effects typically resolve within a few hours. It is important to protect the treated area from sun exposure and to follow any aftercare instructions provided by your skincare professional. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules or who want to avoid any downtime associated with many facial treatments, however it is important to note that individual results may vary.

How many sessions are required?

It is recommended that weekly sessions are performed over a six-week period. Individuals’ may be treated in fewer sessions with more weeks in between each treatment. Scheduling should be based on a medical consultation. We would usually recommend a course of 6 at a minimum.

Can Forma be used in combination with other treatments?

Yes, forma can be used in combination with most other laser treatments, facials, injectables and/or filler.

An amazing treatment to combine –  and one we do many of – is the amazing and well known Hydrafacial + Forma – a treatment we know as HydraTight.
