What are facial thread veins?
Thread veins are small clusters on thin broken capillaries just beneath the skin surface. They are harmless and tend to blanch with pressure but can look unsightly, creating a red complexion.
They tend to form a branched pattern with a central area similar to a spider’s web; hence the name ‘spider veins’. They can be either blue or red and can appear over time. They can look more dilate with heat causing more redness to the skin tone in the summer. Facial thread veins harmless and do not bulge but will remain beneath the skin for life if untreated.

How does Thermocoagulation work?
ThermaVein uses a fine probe for complete accuracy to target the little vessels. It does not use laser, IPL or injections, and simply uses a process called Thermocoagulation.
This process works by gently sealing the two walls of the vein together, causing them to disappear. We can also treat a broader range of other vascular blemishes including skin tags, warts and milia.
What to expect from my treatment?
A typical treatment should take no more than 15-30 minutes, immediately after this time, the patient will see a significant improvement in their condition if not total eradication. We aim to clear all the vessels – this may take up to 3 treatments.
Following treatment, the skin will be red and feel warm. Some people may experience very light marks, similar to cat scratches in the treated area, as well as redness. The redness and cat scratches will settle down over the next 48 hours.
The minor inflammation is referred to as micro-scabs and should fade, with the skin becoming blemish-free after a short while. The treated vessels will gradually fade and be taken away by the body’s lymphatic system.
Aloe Vera gel will be applied post-treatment to ease any discomfort and redness, although this is normally minimal.

How safe are ThermaVein treatments?
As this treatment is precise, it does not generally affect the surrounding tissue or the upper layers of skin. This means that you do not need to take any precautions following treatment other than keeping the skin clean and dry.
Like with all cosmetic procedures, there is a chance of bruising, swelling and tenderness post-treatment; however, this is minimal and settles down relatively fast.
