The Skin Booster Buzz

The Skin Booster Buzz

We can all get skin that looks dry and dull after the festive period with late nights, one too many glasses of wine and even travel causing havoc for our skin.  If you want a hydrated, fresher natural look – without any risk – then skin boosters are for you.

Skin boosters are suitable for everyone. This magical solution is injected just beneath the skin, with the main ingredients being hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is in every skin cell in our body, and is needed to hydrate and nourish the top layers of the skin – keeping it looking supple and smooth. By injecting this component directly underneath the skin, you get that air-brushed dewy glow instantly, which develops further over the following weeks.

Perhaps your moisturiser and home care products just aren’t doing the job, and your skin still feels dry and tight? Skin boosters are a great option for you. These boosters can reach areas in the skin that creams can never penetrate. The bonus is the moisture delivered to the skin via a skin booster, is locked in for up to 6 months – keeping your skin healthy and hydrated.

The most popular areas to treat are crepyiness of the face, mainly around the mouth and cheeks upon smiling, and the dreaded tech neck – which causes horizontal lines and poor texture on the neck. Having a maintenance booster every 6 months can dramatically improve your skins elasticity, firmness, and plumpness – meaning less wrinkles in the long run!

The booster of all boosters – the new revolutionary skin treatment has hit London!

So, what’s the Neauvia hype?

You may have heard of Profhilo which has always been a clinic favourite! (It literally can do wonders!) However we are delighted to launch a new breed of skin booster at Look Lovely London – Neauvia Hydro Deluxe. This booster is a revolutionary new treatment which gives 3 times as much goodness in each session, when compared to Profhilo – and contains a highly active and effective combination of hyaluronic acid, peptides and calcium.

We know the benefits of hyaluronic acid (which is the only component in Profhilo), however the additional peptides found in Neauvia, are complex essential proteins that help break down pigmentation to give an even complexion. The final magical component in Neauvia is calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA). This calcium tricks your skin’s repair cells (called fibroblasts) to work harder and produce more elastins and collagen within the dermis. There is no other booster on the market offering this trio of goodness and we’ve seen some mind blowing results!

The effects of Neauvia continue way beyond most boosters, due to the added benefits of CaHA – which continues to stimulate your skin to produce its own collagen. Human collagen lasts longer than man-made collagen so this treatment will just keep on giving. The skin will continue to improve over the months thanks to the perfect combination of hydration, nourishment, and stimulation.

At Look Lovely London we truly believe in results of skin boosters, and we want all our patients to benefit from them. Skin boosters can be used in a variety of ways, which means we can target treat all your concerns – and help choose the best skin booster for you. Skin boosters can also be offered in combination with any other treatment if you are pushed for time.

Hydrafacial or Microneedling with mesotherapy?

THE ANSWER IS – YOU NEED BOTH!

Hydrafacial + microneedling with mesotherapy = skin perfection

Being a big fan of the Wow Facial at Look Lovely London –  I was very surprised when it was suggested that I book for not just one new treatment – but two combined together. Who knew that was even  thing?

Having spent a week in September enjoying some heat abroard (with SPF this time) – it was slightly annoying to arrive back to London to not only rain, but a face covered in small under the skin spots. Having spent the last 9 years of my twenties spending a lot of money on skin treatments and products, I mostly have been able to keep my acne prone skin at bay. However, a week spent tanning and enjoying the pool and sea, caused a bit of havoc for me! Most of us find after summer our skin needs a big boost of hydration to restore it back to its dewy best and now, I not only needed this – but also needed a treatment to calm my skin and reduce my inflammation. The day after landing these small spots seemed to not only get bigger, but more were forming under the skin.

I visited the clinic and was recommend the HydraFacial combined with the micro needling mesotherapy treatment by Marlena. I am always up for trying a new treatment, and was also extremely desperate to get my skin back under control as quickly as I could.

We started with the 6 step HydraFacial to help clear my congestion and calm the skin. I should say it was looking very red pre treatment and the spots under the skin were big especially on my cheek! The peel stage did feel a bit tingly, but I was reassured that was a good sign and the extracting device felt amazing as you know it is pulling out every blackhead and impurity. The LED light was also used to help calm the inflammation as different lights can be used for different concerns.

After this we moved onto the micro needling with mesotherapy stage, where Marlena used different needle depths across my face to give me the best treatment. This section of the treatment was to help rejuvenate my skin and push it towards healing with fresh new skin. The mesotherapy really brightens and gives the skin a glow and as I had the HydraFacial first, we gave it the best cleansed base to work with.  The treatment took about 45 minutes in all (perfect for someone who does not always find the time to book in for treatment) I was then advised to not use any active products for 3 days to allow my skin time to heal. I was slightly red for a few hours following the treatment but nothing major and I did not apply any make up until the following day.

The most important bit now is the results I have had- it took around 4 days for most of my blemishes to literally disappear and somehow even the bigger blemishes went by day 5. I am now at day 6 and even I can’t believe how quickly my skin has healed. It looks so bright and clean, and I even felt confident enough to go to the gym last night without any make up on. Although it is never enjoyable to have breakouts this has led me to fully appreciate the power of a HydraFacial combined with micro needling and mesotherapy. I am already looking forward to my next one.

Lockdown life and getting ready to reopen

One year on…

As I write this, it’s been a  whole year since we abandoned the familiar and went into lockdown to keep ourselves and others safe. I know every single one of you has found this last year a struggle. Whether you’ve been juggling family life with kids while working from home, missing loved or simply longing to sit down to a roast (that you didn’t cook!) and a large glass of wine with friends. We’ve all had our lows, but I remain hopeful that we’re now turning a corner, and we’ll soon be able to do all the things we’ve missed again.

Returning to frontline medicine

I’ve returned to frontline medicine while the clinic’s been closed, working in the acute care setting and helping those who’ve been hit by Covid-19 the hardest. I’ve also been working closely with my colleagues at the Covid hub in Soho helping design and run an IT system that remotely monitors patients with moderate-to-serious Covid symptoms and pick up any sudden deterioration in their health. This means we can be more proactive in getting care to patients the minute we see concerning readings. This in-turn helps prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and reduces the burden on secondary care.

It’s been very rewarding to use my skills in emergency medicine once again, but it’s also been challenging to see so many patients suffer. Seeing the toll the pandemic has taken on people’s lives first-hand has been very upsetting. At the same time, this period has made me value life even more and reminded me to never take even the smallest of moments in our life for granted. We need to celebrate our health and happiness and live life to the full!

I’m now helping roll out the vaccination programme to ensure all Londoners are protected against this nasty virus so we can get back to normality by the summer.

I’m no longer seeing unwell patients face-to-face as rates are thankfully dropping in London. Fingers crossed this is a sign that we’ve passed the peak.

Opening again!

We remained open for anyone that needed treatment for medical skin conditions, but of course it hasn’t been the same. I’ve missed Look Lovely London terribly, however by helping people with Covid over these tough times I’ve managed to find a good balance. I’ve found peace in still caring for patients, in a different way this year. Now it’s time to get ready to welcome you all back to the clinic and I can’t wait to come back full-time and see you all again.

Keeping you Safe

I’ve been lucky enough to have been fully vaccinated. However, rest assured at Look Lovely London we will continue to carry out strict hygiene measures to ensure all our patients remain safe during their visit to us. We’ve also given the clinic a full deep clean and a complete redecorated so it’s all ready for you.

Bookings are open now!

We’re so excited to fully open April 12th and show you our newly refurbed and sparkly clinic. Bookings are now live and open on the website. COVID safety policy

At the clinic, we take infection control and cleanliness very seriously. We are aware our clients may still worry about the spread of COVID-19. We want to reassure you that your health, safety and comfort is our priority.

We have a strict infection control policy at the clinic. On arrival, we recommend hand washing and offer gloves and masks for those patients who wish to wear them. We deep clean all surfaces, doors, handle, bannisters and card machines after every patient. We can also offer protected time slots for our more vulnerable clients so they have little or no contact with other people during their visit.

Our staff are rigorous about cleaning and handwashing. We disinfect treatment rooms and couches after every client, wearing gloves and masks if needed. We also use Cleanisept to prepare your skin before treatment – this is one of the best antimicrobial agents available to reduce the risk of infection.

We want to put your mind at ease that we have taken all the precautions to offer you a lovely and safe experience at the clinic.

We understand you may want to bring a friend or family member along to your appointment for moral support. However, in these unprecedented times, we ask you to attend alone to reduce the risk of transmission.
