Morpheus8 made me look younger!

My Morpheus 8 experience at Look Lovely London

Wow- What a treatment! I feel like my face has literally morphed back to how I looked 5 years ago!

So let me talk you through my experience of the Morpheus 8 at Look Lovely London. When I first read the press releases about this new treatment, I dismissed it as hype, and I assumed the results were exaggerated. High-profile people like Amanda Holden, Faye Tozer and Kim Kardashian have had this treatment and swear by it and then Judy Murray seemed to have a face transformation after three sessions. Although this treatment sounds like a super-duper vibrator (you have to laugh at the name!), I still had hope if it could change Judy’s leathery skin appearance then it could certainly help me!

So, when I looked in the mirror what did I see? Crepey skin, sagging around the jaw line and loose skin around the neck. In my early 50’s, and after many holidays with a lack of sunscreen (I know- my bad!), I knew I needed a lift and some improvement in the quality and texture of my skin. I wanted to avoid needles- so toxins like anti-wrinkle or man-made filer substances – and I also wanted natural and visible results.

With the wish to avoid more invasive surgery down-the-line I plucked up the courage, picked up the phone and made my booking at Look Lovely London. I was nervous on arrival as I heard it was a device with 24 needles which would be stamped across my face.  However, on walking through the door I was warmly greeted by Katrina at front desk, given a cup of tea and then had my face generously lathered with a numbing cream. A cling film mask was them placed over my face and I was ready to relax and allow the numbing magic to work.

Prior to the treatment it was explained to me the Morpheus 8 is a revolutionary skin resurfacer as well as tightener. The results are achieved by a head that is attached to a machine that would insert fine needles, within a millisecond, into my skin as well as delivering a warm thermal energy. So, what does this do? The small square stamps that move across the face creates  microtrauma to differing layers of the skin, which in turn stimulates your own body to start the repair process to produce more collagen. Collagen is essential in the skin as it provides structure, elasticity and ‘snap-back’ of the skin. The skin tightens and lifts reducing wrinkles and improving in texture. The reason our faces can ‘collapse’ in our 50’s is because we lose 1 % of collagen a year. So, our faces are well and truly shifting south by then! The Morpheus after three treatments can reverses this.

The other benefit of the Morpheus 8, which very few other t treatments offer is fat reduction and recontouring. I have developed the dreaded fatty pouch under my chin and a bit of wobble around the sides of my face (horrible jowls), so I was looking forward to sharpening my jaw line and shifting the stubborn pocket of fat. The device is powerful enough to offer this type of tightening so for me as soon as I lay on the couch ready to start it was a no-brainer. Melissa, my favourite therapist carried out the treatment and it only took 25 minutes!

She started with the fat contouring first as she said this was a deeper more penetrating procedure initially. I braced myself as she began with a handle that looked like a gun, but to my relief could hardly feel the nozzle delivering its magic. I won’t lie- there were a few stingy shots but in general it was very comfortable.  Melissa talked me through what was going on during the procedure and she moved quickly across my face. There was no lingering in any one area. She pulled on my lose skin areas and then delivered the energy. I felt a tightening straight away. Once she had treated the fatty areas with contouring, she them moved over the whole area of my face with a lighter treatment.  I was told this ‘resurfaces’ my skin and to combat those pesky wrinkles around my cheeks and all the way up to my temples. Again, the shots where surprisingly comfortable. As I struggle with heavy upper eye lids called ‘hooding’ she offered me an add-on targeted eye treatment to lift and tighten the upper brow area, which I jumped at the chance to have. I had toyed with the idea of a blepharoplasty in the past, but I was told the Morpheus 8 was the next best thing if I wanted to avoid the knife.

So, 25 minutes later I was hopping off the couch with a rosy face and only one small bruise around my left eye. My skin felt like I have been slapped or had sun burn but this cleared within 45 minutes. The team gave me a calming cleanser to use at home included in the package and my only struggle was not being allowed to wear makeup for 48-72 hours. This is because the microneedle puncture sites need time to heal over. That didn’t stop me heading out for a glass of wine to celebrate my new treatment journey I had embarked on.

For the first few days my skin felt dry, tight, and slightly rough but there was no real down-time. I slapped on tons of nice moisturising cream and eagerly awaited the results. Within 10 days my skin felt baby-smooth, tighter and I saw improvements with my jaw line and lifting of the jowls. Once I feel my new silky-smooth skin, I was on the phone to the clinic booking in my next treatment. I’ve already recommended the Morpheus at Look Lovely London to three of my friends. One of my girlfriends who rushed in after me had bad acne scarring, and she’s seen a big improvement due to the resurfacing.

So overall- 10/10 for a non-invasive treatment and the results are continuing to evolve as it can take up to 4 months for the collagen to fully form.  I’m looking and feeling better each month and the service, treatment and follow-up with Look Lovey London has been fabulous!

My nose job on my lunch break

I’ve been self-conscious about the tip of my nose and the nasal bridge ever since my nose was broken by a fast-moving lacrosse ball at school.

So, since the age of 17 I noticed a bit of collapsing cartilage at the tip of the nose and a bump in the mid nose area where the bone healed, but sadly it resulted in a slightly hooked nose.

Now I’m 41 and have children, and although I’ve toyed with the idea of having plastic surgery to repair my nose, I don’t want to take the risk of having a general aesthetic. That plus parting with thousands of pounds when I have kids school fees to pay – and the thought of 2 black eyes plus swelling for months on end – I had to look at other options.

I just wanted my nose to look a little straighter and for the collapsed cartilage area to lift at the tip as it looked like a little bum at the end of my nose, which made me feel unattractive.

So I decided to try the non-surgical ‘liquid’ rhinoplasty which involves putting a soft gel-like solution (called a dermal filler) into the collapsed areas. It would also fill the grooved nasal bridge  to soften the bump. It’s not permanent as the filler will gently break down over time but the results can last for more than 18 months.

I did my research, and went for several consultations.  I chose Look Lovely London for the treatment as Dr Davina has been injecting for over 12 years and currently has had no complications with over 40,000 procedures. I also quite liked her videos on instagram – she knows what she’s talking about!

She told me she has been trained in non-surgical rhinoplasty by a head ENT surgeon in London and uses a special technique to avoid swelling, complications and bruising. I felt like I was in safe hands. I was told about the most serious adverse effect which was vessel blockage but as she uses a microfine syringe and injects in a gentle way, the risk is very minimal. As with all fillers I wanted to go to a fully trained doctor who understands facial anatomy and knows how to deal with complications if they were to occur.

I was nervous on the day but was given a full assessment of my nose to make sure I was suitable for the treatment. I had sent through some pictures before going in for my consultation, which I found reassuring – as it helped me manage my expectations. It also filled me with confidence to go ahead with treatment the same day as my consultation. My nose was numbed with special cream and Dr Davina used a microfine needle to inject the product. The procedure was almost painless, much to my relief, and took around 15 minutes. Dr Davina gave me 7 small injections in the nose and then gently moulded the filler to smooth the side profile.

And then for the reveal- wow! My nose looked straight and more petite and the grove at the tip had completely gone. As the results where instant and I was delighted. I looked like I have gone through surgery as the outcome was so good but without the risks and at a fraction of the price. I left feeling confident and so much happier as I had my old nose back from my foot-loose-and fancy-free teenage years!

Lots of people at the school gates are commenting on how well I look but without pinpointing what I’ve done. Even my husband noticed my new found confidence – and he doesn’t notice anything!

Deciding to try the non-surgical rhinoplasty is one of the best decisions I’ve made, I only wish I had done it sooner.

How to choose the right Aesthetic Clinic?

With so much choice in the aesthetic world, where do you start?

Welcome to the Look Lovely guide – how to choose the right clinic and practitioner. A 6-point checklist on where to go for your cosmetic treatments and who to trust.

1. Does the doctor work in a clinic?

It’s important that you chose a well-established clinic for your cosmetic treatment.

Doctors who work out of rental rooms cannot guarantee good follow-up care and continuity of care for future treatments. Often these doctors are transient and therefore you can’t be sure if you’ll be cared for by the same practitioner, which leads to varied and potentially disappointing results.

Our doctors have been with the clinic for years and provide excellent after treatment care. Our loyal customers come back to us time and time again. We know each patient’s need and they get tailored treatments, which will give the best results.

2. What are the premises like?

Patients need a calm, peaceful, clean and safe environment for their treatment.

Practitioners who are new to the industry or not established may rent back rooms or work in multi-functioning clinics which can be busy and not patient centred for cosmetic treatments.

Our clinic has been designed for you – Look Lovely London has an elegant, well run, peaceful and discrete clinic in the heart of St John’s wood. We have parking space for our clients which is rare for central London clinics. We provide a relaxing environment where our clients can escape from their hectic lives and enjoy their treatment.

3. How much experience does the Doctor have?

Many doctors carry out complex aesthetic procedures ‘on the side’ to their main job to supplement their income.

This means their experience can be limited as they don’t see the volume of patients needed to advance and learn. The treatments can also be unsafe with disappointing results.

Dr Davina Wilson has been practising for over a decade and has completed over 10,000 procedures without complication’ to-date. She’s trained in advance cosmetics and teaches other doctors and nurses. All our doctors at Look Lovely London are on the GMC register, have regular appraisals – and are fully insured.

4. Do the clinic and doctors know what to do in an emergency?

Most cosmetic procedures are safe – however, if administered wrongly, dermal fillers can cause artery blockage and necrosis of the skin, (when skin cells are starved of oxygen and get damaged).

If the person carrying out the treatment doesn’t act quickly – this can lead to permanent damage. Complications can happen to any doctor, but the crucial point is knowing that if something did go wrong, your doctor knows what to do in an emergency and acts quickly.

If the treatment is being done in a beauty salon or if a doctor is working out of a rental room, they may not have the necessary equipment to be able to deal with an incident.

Always ask a doctor or clinic they have emergency equipment available if needed. Having the knowledge and products to reverse this treatment is essential.

Hyalase is a prescription-only product that can be injected into the filler to dissolve it – however, this is a prescription-only, therefore only a doctor can obtain it.

If you have treatment in a salon where the injector cannot prescribe this product and does not know how to inject it then major problems can occur.

Our doctors have regular anatomy training, we have emergency equipment in the clinic and know exactly what to do in an emergency. We’ve carried out 10,000 procedures to date – with no complications and have a clear protocol if difficulties are encountered. We can say with confidence that our patients are in safe hands.

5. What is the follow-up care?

When booking a procedure, it’s wise to ask about the follow-up care.

  • Can the clinic be contacted out of hours in an emergency?
  • Is the team available post-procedure to offer advice if bruising or swelling occurs?
  • Does the clinic offer a 2-week review to make sure you’re happy with the same doctor who administers the treatment?

Post-treatment care is a fundamental part of what we do – the team is always available to discuss your concerns and answer any questions you have. The doctors ae happy to review you at the 2-week mark and if needed to offer further advice or treatment free of charge.

Your health and wellbeing is our priority. You can email, WhatsApp or call us anytime – we’re here to help.

6. How important are prices?

We all have budgets and balancing the budget with high-quality care and outstanding results can be difficult.

Be wary of clinics offering special offers and discounted treatments – this is this against General Medical Council Guidelines and cheap treatments/products can lead to unsatisfactory results. As the old saying goes, ‘You get what you pay for’ – this is true with cosmetic treatments. A cheap price often means the products could be a poorer quality and cheaper to purchase.

There are lots of products being produced in Asia which have not had thorough clinical trials carried to test long-term safety. Heavily discounted prices could also reflect the injectors experience.

Practitioners with less experience or who are just starting out will tend it offer an attractive price. Be careful of the compromise that may come with the lower price – you could be playing Russian roulette with your face.

When looking at the price of the treatments, consider your overall experience and what the results will be like.

  • Were your questions answered satisfactorily before the treatment?
  • Was the treatment carried out in a clean and suitable location?
  • Are you confident in the injectors experience and their safety record?

Our prices reflect the overall service you will receive. The products we purchase are from well-known pharmaceutical companies and we only offer leading brands in the industry with proven safety through hundreds of clinical trials.

We don’t cut corners offering newer cheaper products to improve our profit margins. All of our devices are brand-new and FDA approved and our aesthetician has been highly trained by the manufacturers of these devices.
