Anti wrinkle injections for your shoulders? Trap Tox

Most of you know me as active, running up and down the stairs, chatting away and carrying out lots of procedures. I’m basically on the go for most of the day.

However, since my teenage years I have endured persistent back pain. I have a poor posture due to a curvature in my upper spine (scoliosis). After physio, osteopathy and even operations I realised that exercise and stretching is the key to keeping the pain at bay.

The pain and tension is mainly in my upper back and shoulders. It often radiates up my neck to my head creating tension headaches. It can even move down to my chest wall causing discomfort due to the tightness.

These sore pressure point could be eased temporarily with a massage, but the tightness would return after long working hours, poor sleep, stressed and sitting at a desk. And I think we are all familiar with this scenario!

As my trapezius muscle was constantly working it was built up like ‘Ox shoulders’.  Put politely, you could call them ‘swimmer’s shoulders’ but I looked quite masculine and pulled forward with a hunch. Then I discovered a miracle treatment called ‘Trap tox” and I realised it would be the best chance to release spasm and tension.

I had 5 injections of anti-wrinkle into the trapezius. The trapezius muscle is a back muscle that runs from the base on of your neck to the shoulder bone. The injections were virtually painless and felt like having acupuncture.

I also wanted to treat my pecs (pectoral muscle which lies over the front chest wall). My pecs were also tight as the muscle shortens with persistent poor posture. When these muscles are temporarily calmed the upper back opens up and releases upper back tension.

These types of shoulder treatments are very safe and have been available on the NHS for years, however the wait-lists are now too long and patients have been struggling with worsening pain.

Two weeks from the treatment and I felt my back was more mobile, looser and had way less tension. Then at the 4 weeks mark my shoulders where less bulky and had an attractive sloping effect. I enjoy the aesthetic changes, but I was amazed that I no longer had upper back tightness and headaches. My mood also improved, and my husband say I’m more upbeat and happier now, which is a bonus!

For me this treatment has been a game changer. If you feel constant tightness and tenderness in the trapezius muscle or a your chest wall, then this is the best treatment for you. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I will definitely be having this treatment every 4-6 months.
